Looking Back on a Brilliant Year at Redrock Outdoor

Carl Burnett • 5 October 2026

The camp from above

As another busy season draws to a close, we’ve been looking back at just how much has happened at Redrock Outdoor over the last year.

There have been early mornings, muddy trainers, wet wetsuits, tired instructors, happy campers and what a hot summer it has been!

But most importantly, there have been thousands of young people trying something new, challenging themselves, working together and creating memories that will hopefully stay with them for years to come.

2026 has been a brilliant year for Redrock Outdoor, and, as always, we’ve learned a lot along the way.

Growing means learning

One of the things we love about what we do is that no two seasons are ever quite the same.

Every group teaches us something. Every instructor brings new ideas, and every season throws up challenges that make us stop and ask how we can do things better.

Sometimes that means changing an activity, improving the way we organise a camp, investing in new equipment or simply listening to feedback from teachers, parents, students and our own team.

We don't believe that growing simply means getting bigger.

For us, it means getting better.

A year full of adventure

From watersports on the Exmouth Estuary and at Orcombe Point to archery, archery tag, bushcraft, circus skills, team challenges and Survival SOS, our activity programme has continued to give young people plenty of opportunities to step outside their comfort zones.

Some arrive full of confidence.

Others arrive wondering whether they really want to climb into a wetsuit, get into a kayak or try something completely new.

Then something happens.

They have a go.

They discover they can do more than they thought.

And that's one of the most rewarding parts of our job.

Outdoor adventure isn't just about the activity. It's about confidence, resilience, teamwork, communication and that brilliant moment when someone realises, “Actually, I can do this.”

Bringing catering in-house

One of our biggest new ventures this year has happened behind the scenes.

We've taken the decision to bring our catering operation in-house, giving us much greater control over one of the most important parts of the residential experience.

It's a big learning curve, from menu planning and supplies to catering for large groups and finding ways to reduce waste.

But it also gives us the opportunity to listen to feedback, make changes and continually improve what we provide.

Most importantly, catering is now another part of the Redrock experience that we can develop ourselves.

And there is something rather satisfying about seeing a group return from a busy day of adventure, sit down together and tuck into a proper meal.

Adventure takes fuel!

Looking ahead to 2027

We're already looking towards next year and working on new ideas, new activities and new ways of making the Redrock experience even better.

We'll continue developing our residential camps and outdoor programmes, while making the most of our fantastic location here in Exmouth.

We're particularly excited about continuing to develop our Estuary Centre, building on the opportunities that the water, the tides and the surrounding environment give us.

We'll also take everything we've learned this year into 2027.

Because that's what growing is all about.

Learn. Adapt. Improve. Repeat.

Thank you

A business like Redrock doesn't grow because of one person.

It grows because of the people who work here, the instructors who throw themselves into every session, the teachers who trust us with their students, the parents who book their children onto our programmes and, most importantly, the young people who turn up ready to give things a go.

So, as we close the book on another season, we'd like to say a huge thank you to everyone who has been part of Redrock Outdoor in 2026.

We've had an incredible year.

We've learned a lot.

We've made some changes.

We've probably made a few mistakes too!

And we'll take all of that into next season with us.

Here's to 2027. More adventure. More challenges. More learning. More memories.

If you're planning a school residential, youth group trip or outdoor adventure for 2027, we'd love to hear from you.
