Adventure That Makes a Difference: RedRock in the Community
At RedRock Outdoor Ltd, adventure is more than an activity; it’s a way to bring people together, inspire confidence, and make a lasting difference in our local community. From our base, on the beautiful Jurassic Coast in Exmouth, we’re proud to play a key role in creating opportunities for children and young people across Devon to learn, grow, and thrive through outdoor experiences.
Supporting the HAF Scheme Across Devon
One of the most rewarding parts of our year is our involvement with the Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) programme, a government-funded initiative designed to support children and families during school holidays. Working closely with Devon County Council’s HAF Devon scheme, RedRock Outdoor provides safe, engaging, and inclusive activity days for children aged 8–15.
Our HAF sessions combine fun, friendship, and learning; from team challenges and bushcraft adventures to archery, beach games, and cooking together. Every child receives a healthy meal and takes part in a day packed with laughter, fresh air, and positive experiences. For many, it’s their first taste of outdoor adventure; and the smiles say it all!
We believe that outdoor learning should be for everyone, regardless of background or ability. That’s why inclusivity sits at the heart of everything we do. Our instructors adapt every session to ensure that every participant feels welcome, supported, and confident to join in.
Partnerships That Strengthen Our Community
RedRock’s impact extends far beyond the activities themselves. We’re proud to work alongside local schools, councils, youth organisations, and small businesses to make outdoor education accessible to all.
Our partnerships with local food providers, such as small catering businesses and local suppliers, mean that every HAF session also supports other Devon enterprises. Collaborations with local instructors, charities, and community volunteers help create a network of shared skills and mutual support; building a stronger, more connected community.
We also open our doors to schools and youth groups across the region, offering inclusive school trips and residentials that blend adventure with personal development. Whether it’s a day on the beach, a three-night residential under canvas, or a first experience of kayaking on the Exmouth Estuary, each programme is carefully designed to promote resilience, teamwork, and self-belief.
A Positive Impact That Lasts
The benefits of outdoor learning go far beyond the session itself. Teachers, parents, and community leaders tell us time and again how RedRock’s experiences boost confidence, improve wellbeing, and encourage healthier lifestyles.
For children who may face barriers in traditional learning environments, time spent outdoors offers a chance to shine in new ways; discovering problem-solving skills, leadership potential, and a genuine love for the outdoors.
We’re proud that many of our HAF participants go on to join our Junior Adventure Club or Youth Adventure Camps, continuing their journey with us and deepening their connection with nature and their community.
Looking Ahead
As we continue to grow, so too does our commitment to making a positive difference. We’re always seeking new ways to collaborate with local schools, councils, and community groups, expanding the reach of our outdoor education programmes and creating even more opportunities for young people across Devon.
Every adventure at RedRock Outdoor Ltd is a step towards something bigger; a more connected, active, and confident generation.
If you’re a school, parent, or local organisation interested in partnering with us, we’d love to hear from you. Together, we can keep making adventures that matter.
